Planning Poker
Planning Poker
- A lot of teams “cheat” in planning poker. There is a push to rush through it and get everyone to agree 👎, so that lengthy meetings (sprint planning and backlog refinement) do not become lengthier than they already are.
- Having everyone completely agree misses the whole point of the game
- Remember that story points are a made up number. They are a metric to guess the relative effort of each user story.
- Planning poker is not about estimation, it is about collaboration
- The goal is to create a shared understanding about what it will take to deliver the card. Encourage discussion when numbers don’t match up.
