  1. Enterprise Continuum
  2. The Enterprise Continuum is a view of the repository of all the architecture assets
  3. The Enterprise Continuum promotes re-use because that is a major consideration for what goes into the Architecture Repository
  4. The constituents of Enterprise Continuum are:
  5. The purpose of the Enterprise Continuum is to classify assets applicable across the entire scope of the Enterprise Architecture. These assets can be called building blocks. Include things like: objectives, policies, capabilities, etc.
  6. The purpose of the Architecture Continuum is to illustrate how architectures are developed
  7. Stages of architecture in Architecture Continuum are:
    • Foundation Architectures
    • Common System Architectures
    • Industry Architectures
    • Org-Specific Architectures
  8. The purpose of the Solutions Continuum is to represent detailed specification and construction of architectures
  9. The stages of architecture in system solutions:
    • Foundation Solutions
    • Common System Solutions
    • Industry Solutions
    • Org-Specific Solutions
  10. Architecture Development Method (ADM) is a process for developing architectures. Enterprise Continuum provides an approach for categorizing and communicating assets.
  11. Architecture Repository
  12. The Enterprise Continuum can help with classifying artifacts inside the Architecture Repository, but can also include artifacts outside of it.
  13. Classes of info in an Architecture Repository:
    • Architecture metamodel - tailored application of architecture framework
    • Architecture capability - things that support governance
    • Architecture landscape - things in-use at any point in time
    • Standards Information Base - things with which new architectures must comply
    • Reference Library
    • Governance Log - record of governance activity across the enterprise
    • Architecture Requirements Repository - authorized requirements agreed by the Architecture Board
    • Solutions Landscape - Solution Building Block (SBB)s deployed or planned by the enterprise
  14. The 3 levels of the Architecture Landscape are:
    1. Strategic Architectures - long-term summary of entire enterprise
    2. Segment Architectures - more detailed models for area in enterprise
    3. Capability Architectures - detailed. how can support a unit of functionality. includes current, target, increment, etc.
  15. The purpose of the Standards Information Base is to hold a set of specification to which architectures must conform. Include legal, industry, organizational.
