A lot of teams “cheat” in planning poker. There is a push to rush through it and get everyone to agree 👎, so that lengthy meetings (sprint planning and backlog refinement) do not become lengthier than they already are.
Having everyone completely agree misses the whole point of the game
Remember that story points are a made up number. They are a metric to guess the relative effort of each user story.
Planning poker is not about estimation, it is about collaboration
The goal is to create a shared understanding about what it will take to deliver the card. Encourage discussion when numbers don’t match up.
